Call of Interest for Zonal Advisory Committees ( Deadline Extended )

CALL OF INTEREST FOR ZONAL ADVISORY COMMITTEES
Under the direction of the NCC Governing council, the CEO of NunatuKavut is soliciting interest from full resident members to sit on zonal advisory committees. These committees operate within a " Terms of Reference" set by the Governing Council and are under the direction of and report to the CEO ( formerly General Manager ) of NunatuKavut.
Mandate of the Zonal Advisory Committees
The zonal advisory committees are to provide input to and support the efforts of the
General Manager. When requested, they are expected to:
1. provide input, such as anecdotal information, to resolve issues related to membership and residency.
2. distribute communiques regarding new programs, services or products.
3. give input to support the evaluation of programs and services.
4. facilitate communication with the membership, in communities where there is no councillor, about meetings to be held in the community/area.
5. assist as specified by the General Manager to preserve the traditional culture (e.g., music, food preparation, ceremonies/gatherings, survival skills, efficient ways of living off the land while preserving it) of the membership and to demonstrate pride and self-respect in the Inuit heritage and language.
6. gather information required by personnel to complete reports.
7. raise funds to assist with cultural activities and to assist with the defence of hunting, fishing and land rights.
8. attend specified meetings, when a councillor is not available, to collect
information only
Training will be provided for the committees. A full Terms of Reference is available from Dorothy Earle, CEO.
